My teaching reflects my interdisciplinarity and offers students introductions to environmental humanities, cultural studies, social theory, the sociology of food and agriculture, sociologies of health and wellness, and social movements.
My goal as an instructor is to galvanize a strong sense of student belonging and inclusivity where students’ voices, experiences, passions, and desires for change are celebrated and nurtured. This is essential given that students are co-creators of the knowledge that we build and the learning communities that sustain us. My hope is that these pedagogical practices give students the inspiration and support to follow their passions and their joys, to critically engage the world around them, to develop a strong sense of justice, to discover their purpose within broader social change, and to enact such change in solidarity with the communities they cultivate in the process.
